This project is one of the most complex tunneling projects ever undertaken, and is the first tolled tunnel in Israel. The tunnel is separated into two distinct sections, each of 5 kilometers; the works including blasting to create the tunnel chasm, 7 bridges (including a FT bridge at Rupin junction) of various kinds; Construction of portal walls and retaining walls of vast extenses; quality control of lighting, airing in the tunnels, at interchanges and other construction elements; landscaping elements and about 80 thousand sq. m. of special concrete precast elements for covering the tunnels, making them esthetically pleasing.
